Use these operations to query aggregated metric data from Eng Intelligence. You can group results and compare them across time periods.

Required permissions

Your API key must have the View Dev Metrics permission, and your workspace must have Eng Intelligence enabled.

Query workflow

  1. Call List available engineering metric definitions first. It returns the metric keys, data sources, and the groupBy, filter, and aggregation options that each metric supports. Use the exact keys from that response when you build a query.
  2. Call Execute point-in-time engineering metrics queries to get aggregated metric values. You can group the results and compare them against a prior period.
  3. To see the individual event records behind those values (pull requests, deployments, and so on), use the Eng Intelligence: Trace operation.
Query results come back as metadata plus rows. Rows are positional, not keyed: the value at index i of each row corresponds to metadata.columns[i]. Queries are capped at a six-month date range, and trace queries at 500 rows per page.
