Engineering Intelligence for MCP (Research Preview)

We’re excited to invite you to our research preview for Engineering Intelligence within the Cortex MCP. This update brings Engineering Intelligence data directly into the Cortex MCP, enabling richer AI-assisted insights, not only into engineering performance, but across your entire Cortex ecosystem.

What's new

Engineering Intelligence data in MCP

You can now access Engineering Intelligence metrics, such as DORA, velocity, delivery, AI impact metrics, and more, through the Cortex MCP. This makes it possible for AI tools connected to MCP to query, summarize, and reason over your engineering performance data.

Unified context for AI workflows

By integrating Engineering Intelligence with MCP, Cortex now provides a single context layer that combines service ownership, organizational standards and goals, alongside deep performance intelligence to help you take action on your engineering data.

Getting started

  1. Ensure you have the latest Cortex MCP configured in your environment.

    • Once enabled, your MCP will automatically include new endpoints for Engineering Intelligence metrics.

  2. You can start querying Engineering Intelligence data alongside ownership, scorecard, and initiative information, from supported MCP clients. Try some queries like:

    • “Evaluate my DORA metric performance in Q3. Highlight where the team is performing well and bring areas of improvement to my attention.”

    • "Which services have concerning MTTR trends, and what scorecard gaps are contributing?"

    • "Recommend initiatives and scorecard changes I could consider to address my upward trend in incidents."

    • "Review last quarter’s performance against our goals, identify the top three bottlenecks, and suggest changes to our scorecards to address them."

    • “Is there a correlation between my PR size and how fast we ship?”
